About the Institute
The Organisational Succession Institute is an independent research initiative dedicated to the study of how leadership, ownership and responsibility transfer within organisations over time. OSI develops frameworks, language and evidence to support clearer thinking about succession; with a focus on owner led, family controlled and mission driven institutions. The Institute publishes openly through working papers and research notes; and maintains separation between research activity and any private advisory work.
Founder
OSI was founded by Dean Steele; a private adviser and doctoral researcher whose work focuses on succession, transition and long horizon stewardship. His research sits at the intersection of governance, organisational behaviour and family enterprise; with practical experience supporting founder led organisations through complex ownership and leadership transitions.
OSI exists to develop clear language, usable frameworks, and an empirical research programme for organisational succession; with a focus on continuity, legitimacy, and stewardship.
